According to versions of the accident picked up at the scene, it appears that the truck, heading towards the South of the country, slid on the highway, and the small 35 passenger bus that was headed to the capital hit it head on.

At the same time, the wounded are: Elpidio Feliz Gonzalez, Hortensia Batista, Rogelin Luciano Cuevas, Domingo Cueva, Victor Vargas, Angel Mendez Peña, Eduviges Peña, Nery Gonzlez Noboa, a sergeant in the National Police, and the brothers Edward Roa Cuevas, Kenly, Leo, Jose Luis Cuevas and Manuel Emilio. A huge traffic jam occurred at the scene of the accident as a result of the clutter from the accident itself and the rubber-necking of passers-by who wanted to see what was going on.

The accident victims were assisted by local Civil Defense workers, the Fire Department and neighbors.
