MVM notified to convene PRD Political Committee
The reservation of candidacies is also challenged by an act served by a bailiff
SANTO DOMINGO. The president of the Dominican Revolutionary Party, Miguel Vargas Maldonado and thehead of the Organizing Commission Tomas Hernandez Alberto, were ordered yesterday by a process server to convene the party's Political Committee next Tuesday, with the idea of hearing the challenges to the results of the Ordinary Convention.
The notification was imposed by Guido Gomez Mazara and Tony Peña Guaba who considered that the Political Committee is the proper scenario for hearing their complaints regarding irregularities in the process held last 27 September.
"There is where we are going to take our documentary proof once again, because the requests that we made to the Sub-Commission for Conflicts have done nothing about this case" said Peña Guaba.
Hipolito's people challenge
In the face of the situation that has arisen in the PRD due to the reservation of certain candidacies by the president of the organization, Miguel Vargas Maldonado, the former President Hipolito Mejia and several party leaders have filed a challenge to the hierarchy in order to cancel the decision by the highest post in the PRD.
In the notification delivered by a bailiff that was sent to Vargas Maldonado, in his post as president and leader of the white party and to Mario Torres, in his post as interim secretary general, Mejia and his PRD leaders are demanding to cancel and leave without any judicial credit Article 13 of the Regulations for the National Extraordinary Congress which relates to the preference of pre-candidates measured by polls and the privilege of reserving certain candidates.
