SANTO DOMINGO. The Omnimedia firm, publishers of the Diario Libre and the prestigious English publication The Economist, the world's most important publication of this type, reached an agreement whereby a daily article from the weekly edition of the magazine will appear every day in the Economic section of the most widely read newspaper of the country.

Mr. Manuel A. Pellerano, the executive vice-president of Omnimedia and Adriano Miguel Tejada, the newspaper's director, emphasized the tremendous contribution this publication means for the economic and financial community of the country, as well as contributing to the increased knowledge of the issues being debated on the world stage.

"It is a great step forward that benefits our readers", said Pellerano, who added that Omnimedia has not spared costs to offer the readers of Diario Libre this new content option.

In his comments, Tejada pointed out the importance that the contents from The Economist have to enhance the national discourse and debate. "We feel that with this step, Diario Libre strengthens even more its leadership in the national print media".

The articles will come out on a daily basis, translated into Spanish, in the Economics section of the newspaper, and they will appear for a limited time on the internet version of the paper, as well.

The Economist is a weekly British publication on politics, international relations and business aimed at a worldwide audience.
